We will be having a reloading class starting Monday October 19, starting at 6:00 PM and a First Step pistol class Friday Oct 23, at 9:00 AM. Both classes will be at our store at 6225 McCandlish Road.

I don’t know if this is another problem for the LCP or not, but we received one in the store last week that had a problem with it.

The problem was with the magazine, when you attempted to place it in the mag well it would not slide in without pressing the mag release. This is not normal for most semi autos. Once the mag release was depressed the magazine slid past it and locked in place as any other semi auto. If the magazine was forced in it would either bend the lip on the magazine or break the mag release.

Wanting to verify that this was normal I called one of my distributors who happen to have some on the shelf awaiting shipment, they had the same results with these.

The customer who discovered the problem contacted Ruger the next morning. I also contacted Ruger and talked the service department.

The results are that I am sending the LCP back to Ruger for repair. They are not supposed to do this; the magazine should slide in without depressing the mag release.

It seems that Ruger has had some problems with the extended magazines locking in place or operating properly with the plastic mag release. To fix this they have changed to a steel mag release, thus at lease on some, creating a new problem.

The first three digits of the serial number on the ones I and my distributor checked were 372, If you have one of the later LCP’s and are having this problem contact Ruger service in Prescott, AZ to get it repaired.

As many of you know the machine gun shoot that was to be held close to Fort Morgan this fall has been canceled. A new location is being sought at this time by the Rocky Mountain Shooting Association. (If you see them at a gun show stop by and talk to them maybe even join or volunteer to pass out information.) There have been 1 location tossed out that I know of in the Kiowa area, but this is just rumor with no backing that I have been able to find.

If you know of someone who has several hundred thousand acres that we can shoot on let me know.

We will be closing at 3:30 PM on the September 15, 2009 to go to a meeting where we hope to find out more.

As a closing note we just picked up 1000 50 cal ammo cans. The ones that we have looked at so far have been in excellent shape with little to no rust, good seals on the lids. We have not washed them up yet (yeah they are dirty) cost is $6.00 each. Remember Wildfire Learning Institute members get a discount.

Hunting season is upon us Kathy and I are looking forward to some Antelope this fall. yum yum

Summer is just about over and it looks like the fall Fort Morgan, CO Machine Gun Shoot has been canceled. As I understand it the state has pulled the recreational lease from the farmer that was allowing the shoot to take place. REMEMBER at this time I have very little information as to the why’s and wherefore’s. I know that there are plans to find a new location. When the next shoot will be is unknown at this time.

The shoot at Casper, WY although a ways away is well worth the drive, not only for the machine guns the you are able to shoot, but the Saturday night fireworks are some of the best I have seen. Next year I understand that there might be some reenactment fighting going on. What a blast.

As we get more information on upcoming machine gun events we will post them.

We now have Ruger LCP magazines with the extension for the pinky. We also have a new shipment of powder and a few Remington small rifle primers.

For those who are interested we will be co-sponsoring a health care debate with Michael Medved and Thom Hartman on KZNT 1460.

Reloading materials are still hard to get, at this time it is large rifle magnum primers and small pistol primers that are not being shipped. Bullets and powder are also iffy we get them when we can. Loaded ammo has seen not breakthrough either we are out of 380 again and not sure when we will get some again. This is rough on our class III shoots as well, when we get ammo it is expensive. As we get supplies we will post them for you. Comments and Questions are welcome.

This bill keeps rearing its ugly head and it does need to be stopped once and for all, If you what to keep your rights under the Constitution that our forefathers gave us this bill must be stopped.

This bill gives a bureaucrat power that does belong to him or an elected official for that matter. The AG will have power to choose who can and cannot own a firearm with no appeal for the victim.

Veterans and past military will be the first to lose their firearms. Who will be next?

Check out the info below and call you elected officials.

1. Denies citizens the right to bear arms even if they haven’t been convicted of any crime(s).

2. Violates the Second Amendment. (The Second Amendment states that “the right of the people to keep and bear arms…shall not be infringed.”) This is infringement.

3. Violates the Sixth Amendment (”…The accused shall…be confronted with the witnesses against him.”)

4. Is wide open for abuse of power. There is a built-in catch-all for FID and FFL seizures and denials – “in the interest of national security.”

5. Violates, most importantly, the spirit of the Constitution! It gives an imbalance of power to an unelected official!

I urge everyone to call their Congressmen and Cogresswomen and tell them that you oppose this bill based on one or two of the above points.

In the cloudy mist of a major ammo shortage it is interesting to note that the Big Mart has had a constant supply of the cheap ammo. They buy direct from some manufactures by-passing our distributor, in turn the small shop owners. Meaning we are stuck with buying the higher priced ammo or do with out. I find this rather disturbing as I can not find ammo fo my own shooting. Still looking for a cheap 410 reloader.

Sticker Shock! That’s what I got and in some ways still have. With the shortage of ammo this summer (actually this year), our summer shooting has taken a sharp turn for the worst. Where we use to shoot the high powers we now shot 22’s, if we can find them. We got a new Taurus Judge 3″ magnum with 3″ barrel, fun little guy to shoot, the 410’s recoil felt more like a 38 special and Kathy is out shooting (and hitting) clays with it. The problem is we ran out of ammo and none in the store. Being the forward thinking guy that I am I started to order some more for us and for the store. What a surprise I had when I found a supplier that had some 410 ammo. Over $12.00 a box of 25, (our cost) needless to say we have no 410 ammo in the store or for personal use. Guess I am going to start reloading it. Anyone have a MEC or other 410 reloader for sale CHEAP! Rick
